Site News
December 2007
We're aware that the InPortsmouth website is fast approaching it's 10th Anniversary. Ideally we would like to give it a complete redesign but that's a big ask. For the time being we are reviewing the usage of the site and removing services that do not show up well in our visitor statistics and concentrate on those that do. The first to go are the Artists and Bands pages. So, apologies to anyone who likes to pop in and see themselves online, but you're gonna have to get your own site now.

February 2006
Secured the longer term stability of the site with two important advertising affiliations, one being the introduction of Google ads.

Summer 2005
Returned to the theme of photographs, but this time concentrating on the Spinnaker Tower and how it affects the skyline from almost every area in Portsmouth.

September 2003
InPortsmouth has once again teamed up with a student on the Journalism course at Highbury College. Dan Bates is the third such student to provide articles for us which will appear from time to time on our front page.

August 2003
New page added for the Portsmouth Neighbourhood Forums. This is a page of general information and does not contain meeting dates, agendas etc. It contains a link to the official Forums site.

July 2003 - InPortsmouth Re-launched
If you have used this site before you will have noticed that it has undergone something of a facelift this month. Apart from checking all the entries and links on the site, we have made a particular effort to provide a simplified navigational structure whilst ensuring that visitors having an impairment of vision or motor skills can still easily find their way around. Details of the navigation conventions used on the site can be found on our Accessibility page.

Other changes to InPortsmouth include:-
  • To avoid some of the confusion experienced by visitors, the former 'Services' section has been amalgamated with the 'Shopping' section

  •
  • The 'Marine' section has been renamed 'Boats'

  •
  • Part of the 'Welfare' section has been removed pending a comprehensive review in conjunction with Portsmouth Council of Community Services

  •
  • Our 'Newsletter' has been temporarily suspended. We will however retain a list of those who have signed up so they can be automatically included when the service is resumed. If you wish, you can still sign up for it on our Newsletter page.

  •
  • The 'Search' boxes have been moved to the top right hand corner to free up more space on the right hand bar.

  •
  • A 'Print This Page' facility has been added. Each page has now been configured so that print-outs will only include the unique content of the page. To see what we mean check out your 'Print Preview'

  •
  • We are now charging £20 + VAT per annum for links to business web sites. All revenue raised from these links will be used to pay workers to keep this site up to date (if you fancy helping, drop us a line). Non-profit making sites will still get their links free of charge, as will businesses whose web sites are hosted by our sponsors, Community Internet Services.
That's all for now!
